🦋 Personality

Option 1: Answer the following questions. Elaborate on the answer, especially your characters thoughts and feelings surrounding the answer. For Canon Characters, you can choose four questions. For Original Characters, you will need to choose six questions. Keep the word count to 150-400 per question.
  1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?

  2. Magic is interesting in Barbie Land, because while it exists, it's not talked about that way. Some examples of this are Barbie's magical wardrobe, her ability to travel between realms, and her choice to just become human. Barbie might be impressed by magic in other worlds that works differently, but she's also someone who doesn't bat an eye at being able to casually travel through space (yay, space!). I would say she's probably fascinated by magic when it represents a learned skilled - something that someone can do, an ability they've picked up, something they've worked hard at, etc. Barbie tends to value people more than the magic at work in their world. She's also just grown used to the magic in her world because it's presumably always been there.

I would say Barbie probably doesn't fear magic, or have any negative feelings towards it. She'd like magic because it opens the world up to more possibilities. She's not someone who believes in limits, or who would automatically fear a person because of their powers or abilities. If magic can make things better for the people around her, then yay, magic!

  3. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.

  4. I think it's safe to say that Barbie would follow Gloria to another realm! When Barbie first enters the real world, she's very unsure of her place there and doesn't have anyone actively helping her. When Gloria tries to rescue her, they form a fast friendship and Barbie gets a better understanding of what it's like to be a woman in the modern (real) world. Barbie's human feelings started when Gloria was playing with Sasha's Barbie doll, which somehow transferred those emotions over to Barbie in Barbie Land. When Barbie went to "find the girl who was playing with her", she was really looking for Gloria, she just didn't know it yet. This means that she technically already has followed Gloria to another realm.

It goes deeper than that, though. I think from her current canon point, she'd follow Gloria to another realm as a gesture of friendship. She trusts her, she wants to make sure Gloria is okay, and she feels a connection with her that has helped Barbie to embrace her own humanity. Those heightened emotions would definitely make her impulsively follow her bestie wherever she wanted to go.

Plus, while I think Gloria is in awe of Barbie for being real, I think Barbie is similarly in awe of Gloria. She's an independent and intelligent person, a mother, a wife, a friend. Barbie finds a lot of beauty in the real world and in real women, and Gloria is an example of someone who knows life is hard and is trying her best every day.

  5. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?

  6. Barbie's most outstanding personality trait is her kindness. Anyone who's a fan of Barbie dolls would probably say that Barbie feels like an old friend. She's familiar, she's cheerful, she's someone who is everyone's biggest cheerleader. All of this is really another way of saying she's kind. She shows a lot of patience towards Ken and all of his crazy ideas, and only turns on him when he crosses the line (taking over Barbie land, calling it Kendom, etc.). She is nice to everyone she meets and is instantly upset at the thought that she hasn't been a role model for girls but a source of their insecurities. She gets along with all of the other Barbies, and works hard to rescue them from Ken's patriarchy. I think the idea of Barbie as everyone's friend is a strong part of her personality because it's a role she's always had. She's never been a daughter, or a sister, but she's always been a friend. She wants to be kind and experience kindness in the world, and she's happy to lead by example (with great enthusiasm).

  7. Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?

  8. This would devastate Barbie! Being away for hundreds of years would mean the family that befriended her (Gloria, Sasha, and Gloria's unnamed husband) would be long dead. Society would have evolved to something she was even less familiar with, and she'd probably feel all alone in the world. She would be very depressed for a long time. But I think, given Barbie's love of humanity, she would eventually find that all of the deeper emotional connections between people and the beauty of the human would was still there. It'd be rocky at first, but she's someone who could make friends again and who is more resilient than she realizes. She would be able to find her place eventually, but it'd take time and tears to get there.

🦋 Fae Court

List your top three choices for your characters adoptive court. The mods will choose the one out of those three options that seems the most fitting based on your app.
  • The Spring Court

  • The Summer Court

  • The Autumn Court

Ability: Do you want your character to gain the ability of their court?

3) Yes, but they either have no ability of their own, or they refuse to trade theirs away; they will buy their court's ability on credit.
